Mothering and life advice

In our busy lives, it is sometimes easy to put your needs and schedule first and think of your children next.  My experience proves that children need be fed.  When there are hungry tummies, there is usually grumpy faces and tantrums.  Countless times I have seen moms in a store about 12:30 or 1 p.m. and the child with them is whining, crying, or screaming.  That is not a bad child.  That is a hungry child and a tired child.  Pay attention to the clock in mothering.  Your child will not become hungry when you put food in front of them, they will become hungry when their tiny tummy is empty.  That takes a lot shorter time than it takes our bigger tummies to empty.  As an infant a child is fed every 3 hours or less.  As a two year old that time does not increase very much.   Sometimes as an adult I still feel like I need real food every 3 hours.
So today my mothering advice is to feed your kids:)   Feed them when they get up, because they probably woke up because of their stomachs.  Feed them at 11:30 or 12.  Don't wait till 1 or 1:30.  Feed them at 5 or 6, not 8.  Also give them a healthy snack between meals.  You don't have to take my advice, but you may just want to give it a try for a week or two and see how much calmer and happier your home can be!
